It’s been sixteen years since the terror attacks on 9/11 altered the New York skyline. According to Charity Navigator, $2.2 billion worth of donations were collected as an aftermath of that Tuesday.
These charities continue to collect funds to help families and victims of those affected:
- Tuesday’s Children works with the families of the dead, they provide resources for children and spouses such as mentoring and mental health services.
- The Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund has given over $150 million in scholarship, the organization continues to raise money to give aid to dependents demonstrating financial need.
- New York Police Foundation invests technology, resources, and training to keep the city safe.
- Tunnel to Tower 5k Run & Walk in New York City (and events across the nation) takes place on the last Sunday of September to honor first respondents. Proceeds go toward building smart homes for injured service members.
